Maternity Tip
What should you buy?
Leave Room For Comfort
It’s
finally happened: your regular clothes don’t fit anymore. Here
are some tips for buying a sensible pregnancy wardrobe that
accommodates your changing body, is comfortable, versatile and
economical:
Buy pieces of
clothing that mix and match with each other. Look for clothes that are
not necessarily sold in maternity departments such as tunics, oversized
sweaters, sweat shirts and blouses, loose-fitting dresses and knit
stirrup pants. You may even be able to wear some of these items after
the baby is born. Choose fabrics that span seasons: cotton, gabardine
wool, denim, challis, khaki, rayon or easy-care polyester blends. If
you want your money to stretch further, consider borrowing maternity
clothes from friends or buying them at resale shops or garage sales.
You might even borrow some of your husband’s shirts or shop in
the menswear department. Sew or hire a seamstress. For a psychological
boost, spread out your purchases over the length of the pregnancy, so
you have something new every couple of months. Choose clothing and
accessories in colors and styles that make you feel good.
